HARRISON, Ark. (AP) — A Boone County man has been sentenced to life in prison after admitting he shot his girlfriend to death.
Earnest Doyle Chastain was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to a first-degree murder charge in Boone County Circuit Court.
The 44-year-old Chastain was charged in the May 19, 2009, shooting death of 53-year-o0ld Susan Powers. The Harrison Daily Times reported that Chastain acknowledged in court that he shot Powers and declined further comment.
An arrest affidavit said Chastain had said he shot Powers after she cursed him and threw a glass of whiskey in his face.
