HOUSTON—Police believe a man may have used a hatchet to kill his girlfriend before taking his own life in Houston Wednesday afternoon.
Investigators said a relative and coworker went to the home of Jaranya Kanjanaviakoon, 46, after they were unable to reach him on the phone.
When they entered the home, located in the 12100 block of Huntington Venture, they found Kanjanaviakoon dead in the living room.
Patrol officers were called to the scene around 4:45 p.m. and found the body of Kanjanaviakoon’s girlfriend, 59-year-old Jan Lim, in the bedroom. She had suffered multiple blunt force trauma wounds to the head.
Police recovered a hatchet at the scene.
After interviewing witnesses, investigators determined that Kanjanaviakoon and Lim had been having domestic issues.
Police did not give details on Kanjanaviakoon’s cause of death.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
