OKLAHOMA CITY – A man was arrested after he took out his anger on his parents, then turned his rage on the family pet, stabbing the dog to death.
The animal control officer who came to the scene said it's one of the most horrific animal abuse cases he's ever seen.
"It's probably one of the worst animal abuse cases I have witnessed as far as the amount of blood and the manner the gentleman killed this dog," said Animal Welfare Supervisor Larry Johnson.
Johnson said the massive amounts of blood from the dog's wounds could be found throughout the home, on the carpet, in the furniture and on the walls.
Police arrested Christopher Poston. It's unclear how many times Poston stabbed the family's dog, but Johnson said he saw dozens of stab wounds.
"Somebody that will do to an animal…that was done to this animal, I believe they are very capable of doing the same to a human," said Johnson.
The 25-year-old's parents are shaken up over the incident and chose note to speak on camera to News 9 but did say they want their son put in jail for good.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident. Officers said the dog's body was found in a trash can.
In 2003 and 2009, Poston's mother filed a protection order against her him. In 2007, the 25-year-old was found guilty on drug charges and for driving while intoxicated.
And in July 2009, he plead guilty to pointing a firearm at a group of people. Poston was given a deferred sentence and required to do 40 hours of community service.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
