MANHATTAN, Kan. | A Manhattan woman pleaded no contest in the shooting death of her ex-husband.
Riley County prosecutors say 63-year-old Martha Potter had originally pleaded not guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the shooting of 70-year-old Robert Potter.
The Manhattan Mercury reports that Potter changed her plea Monday and will be sentenced Jan. 11.
Robert Potter was found dead on Nov. 14, 2009, in the home he shared with his ex-wife. The couple had divorced two months earlier.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
