LINCOLNTON, Ga. --- Lincoln County authorities are investigating the deaths of a man and woman found in a home Monday morning.
The bodies of Chris Holloway, 53, and his wife, Pamela LeRoy Holloway, 37, were discovered by Lincoln County Sheriff's Office personnel at their home shortly after 8 a.m.
Family members notified authorities after hearing shots fired from the home at 1973 Indian Road in Lincolnton, according to Mike Ayers, special agent in charge of the regional Georgia Bureau of Investigation's office in Thomson.
Authorities said the incident is the result of a domestic dispute that turned ugly when Chris Holloway shot his wife to death before turning the gun on himself.
It was not known whether Chris Holloway had any history of domestic violence.
"This is unusual for us," Sheriff Gerald Lawson said of the deaths. "But I want my community to know that they should feel safe. This is still a safe community to live in."
The bodies have been sent to the GBI's lab in Augusta for autopsy.
The homicide was the first in Lincoln County in more than five years. The last one occurred in February 2005.
Rickie F. Lavender Sr., 44, was shot to death by Lawrence Curtis Evans Jr., of Elberton, Ga.
