ORLANDO --
Police said they are investigating an overnight attack at a home, where they found a man lying dead, with a stab wound to the chest.

Authorities were called shortly after 2:45 a.m. Monday to the home on Minoso Street, near Bruton Boulevard.

Inside, they found the body of Christobal Escontrias, a 31-year-old father of three.

Officers at the home said they have taken a woman inside the home to police headquarters to be questioned.

The victim’s sister and brother-in-law, both distraught by the news, said the woman was Escontrias’ girlfriend, and that the two have had their arguments in the past.

“For a couple of years, on and off,” said Frank Tooley, describing his brother-in-law’s relationship with the person of interest. “But it has to be something serious for it to end in this type of predicament.”

“They had their moments, but I would never think it would come to this. Never,” said Escontrias’ sister, Tanya Tooley, in tears. “I told him to leave her alone. Leave her alone.”

“My brother was just like any other man,” she said. “He did what he had to do. He took in his kids. He had a life, and now it’s gone, because of her.”

Police say they have been called to the same house a number of times in the past, but did not immediately go into further details.

They also did not immediately specify whether the stabbing was premeditated or out of self-defense
