LOS ANGELES—A Santa Monica man has been convicted of killing his girlfriend, whose body was found in a car trunk.
Los Angeles County prosecutors say 25-year-old Adel Tabrizi Chapel was convicted of murder on Monday and faces 56 years to life in prison.
Prosecutors say 22-year-old Denise Figueroa was beaten to death with a hammer in February of last year. Her body was found days later in her car trunk in the San Fernando Valley.
Police found the body after TV station KTLA received an anonymous tip by fax.
The motive for the killing remains unclear.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
