CORYDON, Ind.
Indiana authorities say Harrison County sheriff's deputies talked a man into dropping his handgun, then found his wife shot to death in the basement of the couple's home.
A news release from Indiana State Police says deputies went to the home near Corydon on Monday afternoon to make a welfare check and found 62-year-old Larry R. Lowe Sr. holding the firearm.
State police say investigators found the body of 46-year-old Catherine Lowe in the basement of the home. It's about 110 miles south of Indianapolis
Officers have arrested the husband on a murder charge. He was in the Harrison County Jail on Monday night, and there was no record of whether he has a lawyer.
