CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A 32-year-old Cleveland man was indicted for aggravated murder in connection with the death of his live-in girlfriend in Cuyahoga Common Pleas Court Tuesday.
Kevin Johnson is accused of strangling Denise Stoudmire, 25, of Cleveland, in her home Oct. 25 after the two got into an argument, according to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office.
The next morning, Johnson contacted police about 7:23 a.m. and said he had "done something bad and needed to be picked up."
Johnson was arrested after police got to the house and found Stoudmire lying on the floor of the bedroom.
Stoudmire was the sister of a Cleveland police officer. She had a 2-year-old daughter.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
