Temple Hills, MD: Prince George’s police chief breaks down weekend crime

Magaw said the causes of the incidents within the 72-hour period ranged from drugs to domestic arguments to robberies.

The incidents began around 9:46 p.m. Friday with a gun battle between two individuals in a parking lot in the 1600 block of Brightseat Avenue in Landover.

That same day around 7:18 p.m. in the 3500 block of Terrace Drive in Suitland, 25-year-old Ashley McClurkin was shot and killed inside her apartment.

A phone number for McClurkin’s family could not be located.

Police have arrested McClurkin’s girlfriend, Audrea Archer Blackwell, 24, of the 2700 block of Fairlawn Street in Temple Hills, and Davis said the two were involved in a domestic dispute inside the apartment.

Davis said Blackwell allegedly shot herself in the leg before fatally shooting McClurkin in the head.

Blackwell has been arrested and is charged with first-degree murder. She has a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 27 in Prince George’s County District Court in Upper Marlboro, according to court records.
