A 48-year-old woman was arrested and charged with stabbing to death her ex-husband during a dispute in southeast Mecklenburg, CMPD reported Wednesday.
Police identified the victim as James Arthur LaRossa, 51. According to the Charlotte Observer, he was a former New York City police officer who retired in 2001.
Charged in his death was Carole LaRossa, described by police as the victim’s ex-wife. Police said the stabbing occurred during a domestic dispute.
Officers were called to the Apartments at Blakeney in the 8500 block of Dianthus Court, just off Rea Road, shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday. When they arrived, they found James LaRossa dead and his wife suffering from wounds described as non-life threatening.
“Initial indications are that the male and female began arguing, which then escalated to the stabbing,” said Officer Robert Fey, a CMPD spokesman.
Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 704-432-TIPS or call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
