Brooklyn, NY: Brooklyn man kills girlfriend, jumps off roof to his death: Cops

A Brooklyn man allegedly killed his girlfriend inside his apartment Tuesday and jumped to his death from the roof of the building after his mom called police, sources said.

The tragic events unfolded after Efriam Gabourel’s mother and 14-year-old sister found the Roebling St. apartment in the William Plaza Houses in Williamsburg locked when they came home about 8 p.m., the sources said.

Gabourel, 26 — who has about a dozen prior arrests that include robbery, assault and burglary — was inside the home and hesitant to unlock the chain to let the women in, sources said.

“He unlocked the chain,” a police source said. “When his mother and sister came in, he was moving all over the apartment.”

The source said the two women went to the bathroom and found Gabourel’s girlfriend, Liliana Belfor, 29, dead in the bathtub with her throat slit.

“When they went to the bathroom, he slipped out of the apartment,” the source said.

The horrified women called 911 and when police arrived, they said Gabourel ran up to the roof, sources said.

The cops ran upstairs to find Gabourel, who is known by friends as Banks, standing on the ledge of the roof and a few seconds later, he jumped, police said.

Friends said they believe a bout of jealousy may have played a role in the murder-suicide.

“Banks is a cool dude,” said Chris Huertas, 21. “He was quiet. That girl was a pain. She was trouble. Banks couldn’t even say hi to his friends without her going off. She was jealous, crazy jealous.”
