Brooklyn, NY: Brooklyn mom, 22, found dead in her apartment

A young Brooklyn mother was found dead in her apartment early Friday — and cops are hunting for the father of her kids, law enforcement sources said.

The body of Eiglen Esquea, 22, was found faceup in her bed at her Arlington Road home in Cypress Hills about 2:30 a.m., sources said.

Esquea’s mother had called police a few hours before because her daughter had failed to pick up one of her two children from school, sources said.

A locksmith helped officers get into the apartment, where they found the body. The home appeared to have been ransacked, sources said.

Investigators were looking to question the father of Esquea’s two kids — a 3-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl, sources said.

The man, who was not identified, was last seen about 5 a.m. Thursday, dropping one of the children off with a relative, sources said.

“She had problems with him,” said Esquea’s cousin, Angels King. “He used to knock her out.”

Police have been called to the home several times because the couple was fighting, police sources and neighbors said.

“They fight a lot,” said one neighbor, who declined to give her name. “It’s one of those situations where this is not unexpected. It kind of exactly went the way that I knew it always would have.”

The neighbor said she often talked to Esquea about the violence.

“I’ve spoken to her,” she said. “I’ve seen her with a busted face.”

Another neighbor who lives next door said he heard some commotion in the victim's building about 1 a.m. Friday.

“There was a lot of loud knocking," said Alex Castro, 25. "It sounded like someone was banging on the door."

Ex-boyfriend later identified as Darnell Blunt.
