Shrewsbury, MA: Husband accused of murder in Shrewsbury

Jieming Liu will be arraigned in Westborough District Court this morning on charges he killed his elderly wife, Yuee Zhou, according to Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. Her son reportedly found her soaked in blood in the couple's Shrewsbury apartment, according to media partner WCVB-TV.

Zhou, described as an elderly woman, was found on the floor of a bedroom at her 32 South Quinsigamond Ave. apartment at The Green at Shrewsbury by her son Thursday afternoon, reports media partner WCVB-TV. She was pronounced dead by emergency medical technicians at about 4:30 p.m. The area around her body was soaked in blood, according to the DA.

Jieming Liu was taken into custody after being found in the home with blood on his hands and face. He was brought to the Shrewsbury Police Department for questioning and was later charged with murder, Early said in a prepared statement. The district attorney said the case appeared to be one of domestic violence.

Investigators said they arrived to find a disturbing scene in the first-floor apartment.

"At the scene, it was a particularly gruesome scene, there was blood about the apartment and there was blood on Mr. Liu's hands, face and flesh had been stripped from the deceased's left forearm," said Early.

Residents of The Green at Shrewsbury apartment complex where the woman was found said police arrived late in the afternoon.

"I feel sad because it's human people, right?" said Herlane Araujo.

A Mandarin translator was brought in from Boston to explain the charges to the suspect.
