National City, CA: Woman arrested in stabbing death of ex-boyfriend

— A 25-year-old man was stabbed to death in National City and his ex-girlfriend was later arrested in connection with the killing, National City police said Monday.

Officers were called to a home on Paradise Drive near East 12th Street about 7:45 p.m. Sunday where they Scott Eugene Humbert suffering from a single stab wound to the chest, police said.

Humbert was taken to a hospital where he later died.

Witnesses identified his attacker as 35-year-old Miranda Mae Gallegos, police said.

Officers located her about 12:30 a.m. Monday a few blocks away from the crime scene at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel on East Plaza Boulevard, and she was taken into custody, police said.

Gallegos was booked into jail on suspicion of murder, stalking and other charges and is being held without bail.

She is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.
