Burlington, N.C.: Caswell County, N.C., man charged in domestic violence shooting

A Caswell County, N.C., woman is dead and the man accused of shooting her is a facing a first-degree murder charge.

Tyson Lavar Jones, 25, of Burlington, N.C., was arrested in connection with the shooting death of Ana Esmeraldo Henriquez, 19, on April 2. The Caswell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of shots fired in the area of 824 Hughes Mill Road in Burlington, N.C. When they arrived, they saw Henriquez lying in the yard.

Henriquez sustained several gunshot wounds to the head and torso. She was unresponsive and pronounced dead on the scene.

After further investigation, Jones was arrested at his home and charged with first-degree murder. The investigation also revealed that there was a history of domestic violence between Jones and Henriquez, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Jones is currently being held at the Alamance County Detention Center with no bond. He is scheduled to appear in Caswell County District Court on April 4.

The case is currently under investigation.
