A man suspected of killing his wife and 8-year-old stepson in West Virginia's Northern Panhandle has been found dead in Harrisburg, Pa.
Police searched for 38-year-old Abraham Allen for 10 hours after 31-year-old Melinda Brown Allen and son Ethan Brown were found dead in their Wellsburg home Wednesday night. WTOV of Steubenville, Ohio, reported a 2-year-old boy later identified as Melinda Allen's son was found in the home unharmed.
The older child attended Franklin Primary school in Wellsburg, where a crisis intervention team planned to meet with students Thursday.
Wellsburg Sgt. Les Skinner said Allen was originally from Harrisburg, so police there were contacted. They spotted Allen's car outside a home, and when a SWAT team entered, they found Allen dead from self-inflicted wounds.
Skinner said both Melinda Allen and her son were killed with "a bladed object," but the weapon has not been found.
"At this point we have no motives," Skinner told The Intelligencer of Wheeling. "No notes were found on the scene."
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
