Police have charged a husband in the fatal shooting of his wife earlier this month.
Eugene Edmund Lockney III, 32, is charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Gillian Rosanne Lockney, police said in a news release.
He turned himself in at police at headquarters Wednesday and has been released on unsecured bond, according to the release.
Officers found Gillian Lockney, 32, suffering from a gunshot wound at her residence in the 2200 block of Royal Haven Crescent the evening of Sept. 4, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to an obituary, Gillian Lockney was a native of Oakland, Calif., and a graduate of Tidewater Community College. She worked for Bon Secours Home Care and had a daughter, the obituary said.
The Commonwealth's Attorney's Office reviewed the evidence in the case, and a grand jury indicted Eugene Lockney on Monday, said Macie Pridgen, a spokeswoman for the office. He's scheduled to appear in court on Monday, she said.
No further charges are anticipated, Pridgen said. The case remains under investigation.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
