It happened Saturday night on White Hall Road in Yemassee, SC. The sheriff's office says Colleton County 911 Communications center received a call just before midnight from a woman stating she had heard several gunshots coming from her front yard where her friend and the father of her friend's children were talking.
Authorities say the woman told the 911 operator that Consuela Drayton and her and her children had been staying with her because of domestic problems with Consuela’schildren’s father, Terrance Kelly.
The caller said her mother had just gone outside where Drayton and Kelly were talking, and just after her mother came back into the house, they heard the gun shots.
The caller told the operator she could see Drayton on the ground and she was not moving. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found Mrs. Drayton with several gunshot wounds on the ground where she was pronounced dead by the Coroner’s Office.
They also found Terrance Kelly on the ground with a single gunshot wound and near his left hand was a semi-automatic pistol. Mr. Kelly was also pronounced dead at the scene by the Coroner’s Office.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
