ASHEVILLE, N.C. Investigators say an East Asheville man shot and killed his wife before killing himself.
The Asheville Citizen-Times reported that the bodies of 50-year-old Diana McGovern and her 51-year-old husband, Bill, were found in their home Thursday night. Police Capt. Wade Wood said investigators are trying to determine how long the two had been dead.
Diana McGovern's co-workers called police after she failed to show up for work for several days.
Police say there was no history of domestic violence calls to home. Neighbor Melissa Chapman told the newspaper that the couple did not get along very well and that Diana McGovern would call her after Bill McGovern went to sleep.
Chapman said the couple had been married about 15 years and had no children.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
