MANCHESTER, Tenn. (AP) - The family of a Manchester woman who was found dead along with her two sons said they got text messages from her phone after police believe she was killed.
Police believe 26-year-old Stephanie Hershman and her sons, 3-year-old Jathan and 1-year-old Jaylon, were killed on Sunday. Her boyfriend, Matthew Perkins, a 30-year-old U.S. Army recruiter, was charged after their bodies were found on Wednesday in garbage bags and stuffed in a closet at her home.
Terry Hershman, Stephanie's father-in-law, told WSMV-TV in Nashville that the family last got text messages from her phone on Monday, but they now think the messages were sent to keep the family from looking for her.
Perkins is being held in the Franklin County jail on a $6 million bond.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
