HOLDEN, LA (WAFB) - A woman was found shot to death Tuesday evening and her live-in boyfriend was charged with murder.
According to the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office, Brenda Myers, 42, of Holden suffered a gunshot wound to the head around 5:30 p.m.
She was found dead inside the home she and her boyfriend, Joseph Mixon, 27, shared.
Mixon was arrested in connection with her death.
He was booked into the parish jail on one count of second-degree murder.
His bond was set at $150,000.
Deputies said they received a call about a possible shooting in the 17000 block of Florida Boulevard.
Myers was already dead when they arrived at the home.
Detectives said they found a .38 caliber pistol inside.
They believe it was the murder weapon.
Mixon was initially taken into custody for questioning and was eventually charged in the case.
Investigators did not indicate whether or not there was a confession.
The Livingston Parish Coroner's Office is scheduling for an autopsy to take place in the coming days.
They hope to find more information about how the victim died.
Detectives added they believe the couple had an ongoing dispute.
However, they said they had never been called out to that location before Tuesday.

We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
