COLUMBIA | Police in Columbia say a 21-year-old man died and his former girlfriend was wounded in a shooting at an apartment building.
Neighbors called 911 shortly after 11 a.m. Monday after hearing shots fired and people yelling inside the woman's apartment.
Police said the woman's current boyfriend apparently fired the fatal shot. That man was cooperating with investigators.
The victim's name was withheld while relatives were notified.
The 22-year-old woman was taken to University Hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg. Police were uncertain who fired the shot that struck the woman.
The apartment is located in a building near Stephens Lake Park.
