CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department says an east Charlotte man shot his pregnant girlfriend and then turned the gun on himself early Friday morning.
Police officers and the SWAT team was called out to reports of a shooting around 12:21 a.m. along the 600 block of North Wendover Road Friday morning.
Investigators told WBTV the incident started as a domestic dispute and the SWAT team was called out after officers encountered the pregnant shooting victim, with a gunshot wound to the leg.
Officers say the accused shooter, her boyfriend, refused to come out of the apartment, barricading himself into the building. His body was discovered around 2 a.m. with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
No names are being released at this time, and no word on the condition of the woman who was shot.

We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
