A man fatally shot himself early today after shooting his girlfriend in the leg during a domestic dispute at the Pines at Wendover apartments on North Wendover Road.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said they called in a SWAT team after the man barricaded himself inside the apartment shortly after midnight. The man refused to leave the apartment and at some point shot and killed himself, police said.
The woman suffered a non-lifethreatening bullet wound in one of her legs, police said.
Police haven’t yet released the identities of the man and woman this morning.
Observer news partner WCNC-TV reported that the woman is pregnant and that a child was also inside the apartment during the dispute but wasn't injured.
