PERRY COUNTY, Ind. — A Perry County man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of his fiancee Sunday at a St. Croix residence.
Henry Lee Whistle, 36, who had been preliminarily charged with aggravated assault pending an autopsy on the body of Jamie Renee Stowe, 31, was formally charged with murder Tuesday morning Perry Circuit Court. He is being held without bond in the Perry County Jail.
The Perry County prosecutor's office said the autopsy conducted Monday determined the primary cause of death was blunt force trauma to Stowe's head, neck, chest and abdomen.
Whistle was arrested after Perry County Sheriff's deputies were called to a residence on 26790 North S.R. 37 about 8:14 p.m. Sunday in reference to a dead female.
Indiana State Police said a preliminary investigation revealed Stowe and Whistle had gotten into a physical argument.
