Columbus police arrested a local man today on charges he stabbed to death his ex-wife in her Lakebottom area apartment.
Jarod Denorris Ingram, 27, was charged with murder in connection with the death last month of 28-year-old Ciara Anne Ingram. He was arrested at his residence without incident, police said, and taken into custody about 1:25 p.m. In addition to murder, he's charged with possession of a knife during the commission of a crime and two counts of cruelty to children.
Few details were available Sunday evening, and a police lieutenant could not say how investigators linked the suspect to the crime.
Jarod Ingram is scheduled to appear at 9 a.m. Monday in Recorder's Court for a preliminary hearing.
Police had responded on June 8 to Ciara Ingram's residence at The Village on Cherokee apartments. She was found inside her apartment, and police said at the time that she could have been dead a week or longer.
An autopsy revealed Ciara Ingram died from stab wounds to her neck, Muscogee County Coroner Bill Thrower said.
