Houston police filed charges against a man accused of shooting and killing a woman in southwest Houston.
According to investigators, Edwin Salinas, 23, killed Erica Venegas, 36 on Coventry Square near Bissonnet Street around 4 p.m. on Monday.
Investigators believe the two got into some kind of argument before the shooting. Salinas shot her in the head at close range, investigators said.
Witnesses said Salinas and Venegas were dating for the past five years.
Police said a man called his roommate and said he had shot a woman to death.
"The person of interest called his roommate and told him pretty much what happened, then he called the police," said Carlos Cardenas of the Houston Police Department. "Trying to see if we can find the possible suspect. We have someone in mind. Still trying to see if we can locate him."
Salinas is 5'3" and weighs around 130 pounds. He has tattoos on both arms and might have a tattoo of "Erica" on his chest, police said.
