Waco, TX: Fourth Person Not Involved In Stabbing That Left 1 Dead, 2 Injured

WACO (December 7, 2011)—A stabbing on the night before Thanksgiving that left a Waco man dead and a woman and a toddler injured was the result of a domestic disturbance and did not involve a fourth person, police said Wednesday.

Luis Rene Hernandez Venegas, 29, died in the Nov. 23 stabbing at an apartment in the 2400 block of Washington Avenue.

Ortensia Rodriguez, 21, who was seriously wounded, remains in the hospital, but investigators have finally been able to question her and detectives now “believe the stabbings occurred due to a domestic dispute between Miss Rodriguez and Mr. Venegas,” police said in press release late Wednesday afternoon.

Police have not released the name of the 2-year-old boy who was also badly wounded in the attack

Police were dispatched at around 6:30 p.m. Nov. 23 to the apartment building in the 2400 block of Washington Avenue.

Officers found the woman and the toddler outside of the building and the toddler was bleeding heavily.

Both were taken by ambulance to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center and were rushed into surgery.

Venegas was found inside the apartment, dead from his injuries.

He and Rodriguez both worked at George's restaurant in Waco.
