NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC – A man wanted in connection with a domestic dispute in Horry County was found dead Thursday morning in North Myrtle Beach.
North Myrtle Beach Spokesperson Pat Dowling said a man’s body was found in the dunes near 7th Avenue North about 7:15 a.m. Coroner Robert Edge identified the man as Dean Curtis Way, 55, of Little River. An autopsy performed Friday morning revealed Way's cause of death as drowning.
According to a police incident report, Way was accused of beating his wife in the head and body with a hammer after an argument about a Christmas present, then Way attacked his wife and left home with a .45 pistol and a bottle of vodka.
His wife is recovering from injuries at a local hospital.
