A Fort Bend man is accused of killing his girlfriend's cat because he was angry she wanted to break off their relationship.
Kaleem Ahmad McCoy, 22, of Missouri City was indicted this week by a grand jury in Richmond on a felony charge of cruelty to non-livestock animals.
Fort Bend County Sheriff's spokesman Bob Haenel said McCoy and the woman got into an argument on Nov. 20 at the woman's home in the Bridlewood subdivision near Richmond after she told him she no longer wanted to date him.
McCoy left the home but later returned and told her he had killed her cat, Haenel said.
The cat's body was discovered in a nearby field. It had blood coming from its nose and mouth.
McCoy told sheriff's investigators he was playing with the cat while sitting at a table when it jumped out of his hands, hit its head on the table and died.

We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
