GOLDEN — Police said Monday that 47-year-old Denise Lynn Elliott called officers Sunday night to say she had shot and killed her husband.
Police said Elliott is the only suspect in the shooting. She was being held in the Jefferson County jail on suspicion of first-degree murder.
Police did not release the husband's name, but public records show that Elliott is married to Ronald Ray Elliott, 48, and they live at the location of the shooting, 245 Fawn St. in Golden.
A police spokeswoman would characterize the victim only as a man in his late 40s.
Records show Denise Elliott has no criminal history and Ronald Elliott was arrested three times since 2002 on drunken driving charges in Jefferson and Adams counties.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
