A young woman who died Monday night in a domestic Long Beach shooting has been identified as 27-year-old Rachel Bruner. Her 26-year-old boyfriend, with whom she apparently lived in an apartment near Orange Avenue and Seventh Street, is still in the hospital with a gunshot wound he likewise sustained during the shooting.
Bruner's Facebook profile says she graduated from La Mirada High and was currently attending Cypress College, both in towns that border Long Beach. Her father tells the Press-Telegram...
... that his daughter "was in a troubled relationship with the man and had struggled with substance abuse." However, her friends have attacked that notion in the article's comment section:
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
