CHESTER TWP. — Leo Moran, 74, was charged Thursday in connection with the murder of his wife, Charlotte Moran, also 74, according to Morris County Prosecutor Robert A. Bianchi.
A family member called Chester Township police at 7:53 a.m. to report the death of Charlotte Moran at her home at 316 Pleasant Hill Road, where she lived with her husband.
Leo Moran was taken into custody and transported to the Chester Township Police Department where he was charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, a crime of the third degree; and unlawful possession of a weapon, a crime of the fourth degree.
As of late Thursday night, he was being processed in connection with the incident. Superior Court Judge David H. Ironson set bail at $1 million. Authorities released no other information Thursday evening.
“This is a tragic incident, and our heartfelt condolences are extended to the family members,” Bianchi said.
Also responding to the scene were the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Morris County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Section, and the Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

According to the county Prosecutor’s Office, they are not seeking anyone else and there is no safety concern for neighbors.
