YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) — A 36-year-old Yakima, Wash., woman accused of fatally stabbing her husband has pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter.
The Yakima Herald (http://is.gd/3zIJXY ) reports Sara George had been charged with second-degree murder in the 2009 death of her husband Rafael Oseguera at a downtown apartment building.
According to police, neighbors had heard the couple arguing for hours before the 33-year-old man stumbled into a hallway, clutching his chest.
George faces a sentence of between 6 1/2 and 8 1/2 years in prison after her Friday plea in Yakima County Superior Court. Sentencing was tentatively set for Dec. 20.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
