UNION, Mo. — A southwest Missouri man was sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to a lesser charge in his girlfriend's death.
Twenty-eight-year-old Jesse Berry was sentenced Thursday after he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of Andrea Ray.
Ray was strangled June 10, 2010 at a home in Salem where she lived with Berry. Prosecutors said Berry killed Ray because she wanted to move out of the home.
KY3-TV reports (http://bit.ly/vQSgbs) that Berry was scheduled to go on trial for first-degree murder next Wednesday.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
