Orlando, FL: Accused killer "blacked out" in anger during stabbing, Sheriff's Office report says

An Orlando man that confessed to stabbing his live-in girlfriend to death this weekend missed his initial court appearance because he was taken to a local hospital, Orange County jail officials said.

Leonce Charles was scheduled to face second-degree murder charges today at the Orange County jail but officials declined to divulge details about his ailment.

The 48-year-old man turned himself in to Orange County Sheriff's deputies after the couple's children found 46-year-old Cecile Freus dead in her bed, according to a Sheriff's Office report.

Charles told investigators he 'blacked out from anger" and stabbed Freus to death with a knife he found on the floor of their bedroom during a confrontation about alleged infidelities, an arrest report said.

He told investigators that Freus was using Voodoo control and sicken him.

Three of the couples' children were inside the home during the slaying, the report said.

Freus' 18-year-old son found her lying on her bed about 5 a.m. with multiple stab wounds in her chest and legs at their home in the 1800 block of Windmill Drive in Pine Hills, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The young man had seen his father, Charles, leave about 4:15 a.m. from the bedroom where the couple had been enclosed for hours.

Several minutes later, the teenager received a phone call from a relative, asking him to check on Freus.

With the bedroom door locked, he broke through a window and crawled inside, panicking at the sight of his mother's body. He yelled for his siblings, who tried to get a response from Freus but got nothing.

Charles told investigators he wrapped the knife in a shirt and threw it out of his car as he was driving to Apopka. Deputies later recovered the weapon.

He surrendered to authorities at South Orange Blossom Trail and Michigan Street, saying he couldn't recall how many times he stabbed Freus.

Charles is being held without bond at the Orange County jail. It is unclear when Charles' court appearance will be rescheduled.
