Lawrence County Sheriff’s Investigators have arrested a Trinity man for murder after new information in a 2010 death investigation was received.
On Tuesday investigators charged 58-year-old Jimmy Ray Dotson, Sr. with murder in connection with his wife’s death.
According to the sheriff, investigators were called to Mr. Dotson’s residence after his wife, Carolyn Kirby Dotson, was found shot to death on October 20, 2010. During their initial investigation, investigators ruled that the death was self-inflicted, based on the information and evidence available at the time.
However, about six months ago investigators received new information in the case, which prompted additional investigation. Over the past six months, investigators re-interviewed witnesses and worked closely with forensic experts on the case.
As a result of the additional investigation, Dotson was charged with the murder.
Dotson is currently being held in the Lawrence County Jail with no bond set at this time.
The investigation is ongoing.

We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
