Los Angeles, CA: Man kills wife, daughter, then self in South Bay, L.A. police say

A man jumped to his death from a San Pedro building Sunday after earlier killing his wife and daughter at their Harbor City home, Los Angeles police said.

Paramedics were called to a home in the 25200 block of South Petroleum Ave. about 10 a.m. Sunday, where they found two women dead in the front of the residence, said Officer Karen Rayner of the Los Angeles Police Department.

A police perimeter was set up at the location, west of the 110 Freeway, after initial concerns that there might be an armed person or more victims inside the home, but a suspect was not located.

About 11:30 a.m., police were dispatched to the 300 block of South Mesa Street in San Pedro after they received reports of a man jumping from a building. Investigators determined that the man was the husband and father of the dead women and had killed them before killing himself.

Police did not release the name of the victims or details of the incident. One of the women was in her 50s, and the other in her 30s. They appeared to have died from blunt-force injuries, but an autopsy was pending, Rayner said.
