BETHANY — A Bethany man who confessed to stabbing his wife to death after she confronted him about looking at pornography has been charged in connection with her death, and a bag of evidence has been recovered from Lake Overholser.
Reginald Scott Bartlett, 58, was being held Tuesday in the Oklahoma County jail without bail. He was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder.
Bartlett is accused of stabbing Cathy Bartlett, 57, on Jan. 9 after an argument. He told police she slapped him and he “snapped,” grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed her, according to the arrest affidavit.
He also told police he shopped for golf equipment and attended a basketball tournament before returning home to call 911. He first claimed a robber had raped and killed his wife, the affidavit states.
After about three hours of questioning, Bartlett confessed, Bethany Police Chief Phil Cole said.
Bartlett told investigators he put the knife, a computer and his clothes in a duffel bag and threw it into Lake Overholser.
Divers with Bethany police and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol recovered a bag from the lake Tuesday, police said.

you should be more tactful. "slaying" isn't appropriate for either side of the family that is involved
