The Big Rock woman accused of murdering her boyfriend in Wisconsin could go to trial in March.
Tammy Cole, 56, of the 8S900 block of Dugan Road, is being held on $1 million bail in Monroe County, Wis. According to Wisconsin court records, a trial is scheduled for the week of March 21 to 25. Court records show there are two other court dates scheduled before the trial.
In June 2010, Cole was charged with shooting her former boyfriend, Vance Evans, 46, of Tomah, Wis.
Evans’ girlfriend found his body, with one bullet wound in the back of the head, in his apartment on April 27, 2010, police said. On the night he died, Evans told his girlfriend that the “psycho from Illinois” was at his house and he couldn’t get rid of her, according to court records.
The girlfriend later tried to call Evans, and a woman answered the phone and threatened to shoot the girlfriend, court records said.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Wisconsin, at least two people said they heard Cole admit to shooting Evans.
According to the complaint, a hysterical Cole later told her sister she accidentally shot Evans.
Cole turned herself in to Boone County, Ill., police on June 10, 2010.
Evans was born and raised in Tomah, but lived in Illinois for 30 years while he worked at Chrysler. Evans owned a bar in Tomah, which is about two hours northwest of Madison.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
