A woman who was a well-known member of the Anchorage running community, shot multiple times early this week in a domestic dispute at a West Anchorage home, has died and her husband has been charged with murder, Anchorage police said Friday.
Police said the woman, 40-year-old Jocelyn Luch, was shot Tuesday night in the home in the 3400 block of Telstar Circle. When police arrived shortly after 9 p.m., they found Luch in the bathroom wounded in the arm, shoulder and torso.
Grown children in the home told investigators they heard multiple shots following an argument between their parents.
Luch was taken to a hospital where she underwent surgery.
Her husband, Robert Luch, 62, was taken to police headquarters, where police said he began having medical problems and lost consciousness. He too was hospitalized.
Police said Friday that Robert Luch remains in the hospital but has been charged with first-degree and second-degree murder. He will be jailed after he is released from the hospital, police said.
On the night she was shot, Jocelyn Luch had competed in the Tuesday Night Race Series, a weekly event she and her children -- avid runners who excelled for West High in track and cross country -- often participated in.
The Luches made a name for themselves in the running community several years ago when the family's four kids began to dominate their age groups. They were a familiar sight at races and on the running trails.

We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
