ROCKFORD (WREX) - The family of Denise Davis announces a candlelight vigil in her honor tonight. Davis is the mother of three who investigators say was strangled to death on Monday.
The vigil will be outside of her home at 1120 Ogilby Road, starting tonight at 7:00. Her family members will light 38 candles, one for each year she was alive. They want to honor her memory, as well as the lives of other victims of violence. They also urge anyone who may be in an abusive relationship to get help.
Rockford Police arrested James Agee, 44, in the death. They say he was her boyfriend. He is charged with first degree murder.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
