A couple is dead after authorities say say a domestic situation ended in a murder-suicide in Simpsonville.
The Greenville County SWAT Team assisted Simpsonville Police Department officers after a report of shots fired at a home on Garrison Road. Shortly after arriving, SWAT Team members assembled outside the home and then entered the home where the bodies of a man and woman were found.
Simpsonville Police Chief Charles Reece said the murder-suicide appears to have resulted from a domestic situation.
Greenville County Deputy Coroner Karie Cain tells News Channel 7 that 58-year old James Tillman Bazzle, of 210 Garrison Road, Simpsonville, and his wife, 45-year old Traci Lynn Grant, of the same address, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the forensics and preliminary autopsy information shows Bazzle shot Grant twice at close range before turning the gun on himself.
The case is being called a domestic-related homicide and the department is waiting on results from a lab before closing the case.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
