Wilmington police said today they have not yet identified a man who was stabbed to death Saturday night.
Paramedics from the New Castle County Emergency Medical Services pronounced him dead shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday in an apartment in the 2800 block of N. Tatnall St., Master Sgt. Steven H. Barnes said.
The victim and his girlfriend were arguing when she grabbed a knife and stabbed him, Barnes said.
Responding police, who had to force their way into the apartment, found the victim unconscious and bleeding from stab wounds of the throat and left thigh, he said.
Joanne Howard, 56, charged with murder and related offenses, is being held at Baylor Women’s Correctional Center near New Castle, Barnes said.
The stabbed man is believed to be 53 years old, but Barnes said, “detectives have not yet positively identified the victim.”
His name will be released pending identification and notification of his family, Barnes said.
The killing is the fourth stabbing death in Wilmington this year, bringing the number of homicides this year in the city to 23, with 19 fatal shootings. Wilmington has had a total of 104 shootings this year.

We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
