Police have arrested a Garden Grove man who they say killed a Santa Ana woman Friday during a domestic confrontation.
Officers responding to reports of an injured woman found the body of Maria Christina Ramirez-Diaz, 58, on the floor of a garage at a home in the 13000 block of Fairview Street about 4:35 p.m., Garden Grove police Lt. Ted Peaslee said.Ramirez-Diaz was unresponsive when police arrived, Peaslee said, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The resident of the home, Arturo Salazar, 50, was among those at the house when police arrived, Peaslee said. He was taken in for questioning and was arrested several hours later on suspicion of killing Ramirez-Diaz, Peaslee said.
Ramirez-Diaz and Salazar appear to be former cohabitants who had at least one child together, Peaslee said. The two apparently separated, with Ramirez-Diaz moving to Santa Ana, Peaslee said.
Investigators believe that the two were fighting before Ramirez-Diaz's death. The cause of their confrontation was not immediately clear.
