ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- After hours of questioning, Orange County Sheriff's deputies released the man whose girlfriend was found shot and killed early Saturday morning.
Homicide detectives were called to the couple’s home on Prince Street in Orlando at 2:00 Saturday morning, but neighbors said they heard gunfire several hours before that.
WFTV talked to several neighbors who said they heard at least one gun shot at 8:00 Friday night. Neighbors say about half an hour later they remember hearing someone take the couple’s children away in a minivan. They don’t know who left with the small children, but say they returned to the home a short time later.
Six hours later, Orange County sheriff’s deputies were called to the home. Investigators said, when they arrived, they found 28-year-old Jill Morris with a gunshot wound. Morris was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center where she died.
Morris’ boyfriend, 25-year-old Richard Reagan, was questioned, but was not charged or named as a suspect in the murder. Investigators say their investigation is ongoing.
Investigators confirmed that the woman’s two children were not home at the time of the shooting, but would not say where they were.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
