HOUSTON (KTRK) -- It took a Houston jury just five minutes to find a man guilty of killing a woman and her two daughters.
Authorities say Garland Harper stabbed his girlfriend to death because he believed she was being unfaithful. He then tied up her daughters, 15-year-old Briana Roberson and 7-year-old Maya Love, and strangled them.
Prosecutors told jurors it took the victims just three minutes to die and it should take them even less time to find him guilty.
Harper's attorney argued he is mentally ill and was delusional during the murders.
Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
