Police in Opelousas say Tuesday morning's violence on Park Avenue was a murder suicide.
According to police, 31 year old Broderick Francis went to the trailer home of his ex girlfriend 26 year old Ranette Thibodeaux, broke in through a window, shot her in the head--then himself.
Police say the couple had a history of arguments and Broderick was charged for battery back in 2005.
Relatives tell KATC Thibodeaux had even recently changed the locks on her house, out of fear her ex might try to hurt her.
Neighbors and police officers swarmed the area of Park Ave around the trailer home.
Police say the couple had two children, but the kids were not home at the time of the shooting.
