A fight over an ex-girlfriend led to a fatal shooting at 4122 Wire Road in Linden on Sunday night, according to Harnett County sheriff’s officials.
Deputies say Christopher Shane Brock shot and killed Michael Wayne Wright, just before 11 p.m., after Wright came to his house and threatened him for the second time that day.
Deputies responded to the house earlier that evening, around 8:30 p.m., after Wright confronted Brock, who is dating Wright's former girlfriend. Deputies said they were unable to find Wright at that time.
During his second and final visit that night, Wright fought with Brock and Brock's grandmother, who also lives at the house, before Brock shot him.
Wright's body was sent to the N.C. Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. The investigation was continuing. No charges have been filed.

A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
